Rad Ross!

Come meet "Rad" Ross Schnell from the Trek-VW Pro Mountain Bike team at West Sedona School on Tuesday April 1st! Ross is one of the top Pro Mountain Bike racers in America. Mr. Keller and Ross have been racing together since they were 15 years old all the way through college and into the pro ranks....Ross has just takin it to another level and in style (he usually dresses in funny clothes to make a statement, but still finishes in the top 5 doing so!)

SHE-NEBLY

This is Merry-go-round the lookout on schnebley hill road we road to!

Keller, Jordan, Sammy and I rode out to the look out on schnebly road. it was a killer ride but my bike wasnt designed for that kinda trail. sammy and jordan were rokin heavy duty dh bikes and i was trailing behind with a super light weight xc bike. i gota nice sun burn and some dust in my eyes but it was a great ride over all. i cant wait to get my new bike and get back out there. it felt good doing those long climbs today but i was struggleing on those down hills with basicly no suspension.

Here is the elevation and distance we climbed, then descended!

Rad view down the valley from the top....which was only a few miles away from where we were!

Racee

Well, so much for the race huh. I took a little joy ride off the trail. I was following a kid, and he went straight when we were suppose to turn. So I followed him, and he started to pull away, and I could no longer keep up. So I was on my own, I made it to a dirt road! I went down that for about 7 miles, and then I turned back. Went down the other side of the dirt road for about another 2 miles. I had no idea where the race was anymore. I ran out of water, and I look down and see a crystal clear ckreek, and I go down and fill up my water bottle. Finally, I figure, I should just start to back track. i go back about 6 miles and hit the trail. I had nothing left, I mean nothing, until a few bikers past me. It was the best feeling to see bikers again. ha. I started the race at about 10:15 A.M. and did not pass the finish the race until about 4:30 P.M. ha, It was a long day. I took a pretty hard spill too. Split open my arm pretty deep, and long. But I learned my lesson. I guess. but yet, I look back and I had funn. It was a training day for me. haha. I like to say that, the 10 miles was not enough-I needed and extra 30! They way I look at it, I wanted a longer and more fun ride. haaha, Well hope for better next race.

West Sedona Jr. High and Elementary Teams leading the Leauge!

Check out the points totals so far!

If we keep it up, we'll be the Arizona School State Champions!

They have extended the championship race until the last MBAA race in Flagstaff sometime in May to give the Flagstaff riders a chance to catch us! So we need to keep on racin and keep up on the training log/blog to earn more points. Dylan is doing a great job with 225 points, he isn't far off the leader of the Jr. High Series.

Lets go ride

Dang I want to go ride! I have not been able to ride for a little over a week. I can not wait for the next race at Gardner Canyon, Santa Rita Mountains, Sonoita. Im going to have a bunch of NRG to get rid of at the race. Mr.Keller said it was a super radd, and fun course. So Im pretty pumped for it, and I cant wait to ride again. Its going to feel AMAZING to get back on my bike. I think Im going to go for a little ride Firday after track, just to get a feel of the bike again.

Also, just about two or so weeks ago. I have started to use clip-ins. Kinda scary, I have took a few falls here and there but nothing I have not been able to get up from. Ha, Im starting to get use to them, it seems everytime I go and stop at a stop sign in a car. I twist my foot to get out of the pedals even when im not on a bike. Haha. Well I was just telling you how its going, talk to you guys laterrs.

RACE!

Just got home from a race down at Estrella. The trail was crazy rocky but ive made it through worse. Over the last week ive been trying to train, however due to my lack of a working bike it's been dificult. Lucky for me Mr Keller stepped in and lent me a bike. I went on a ride from Sedona to Voc, ( about ten miles each way) it was the first time i was riding clipless ever sence that mizerable day on soldiers pass. Any ways back to the race, i placed fifth wich im happy with but id love to be in top three consistantly(maby next year). I took a bad spill about thirty feet away from the finish line on the last down hill section. To say the least i left a little skin on that trail today. I've got a nasty limp, a violent bruse on my leg, and deep road rash cut into my whole right side. Thank god i was wearing a helmet or things probly would have gotten ugly. but over all today was wonderful, good weather ( maby a lil hot tho). So now im looking forward to the next race, its a four hour drive from where i live so that should be FUN.
